Oh my goodness, I am so behind on updating! I can't believe we have had Makenna almost 10 months! I have been wanting to update several times, but somehow life just gets in the way.
Makenna turns 3! - Makenna's birthday was October 2, and we gave her a little party. She doesn't really have friends yet, but our friends happily came to join the fun. We kept it small so we did not overwhelm her. Makenna had seen Matt and Adnrew celebrate their birthday, so she was more than ready for hers! She had a great time, and was so excited all day. She wore a pink birthday crown, and loved her cake and presents. My birthday happened to be yesterday, and she insisted I wear her pink crown. She also made sure to help blow out my candles. She gets so excited and wants to help everyone celebrate their birthdays.
Halloween - Makenna loved Halloween and quickly figured out what happens when she said trick-or-treat. She loved getting dressed in her princess dress and happily carried her pumpkin through the neighborhood. This was her first time having candy, and she quickly found her sweet tooth! She has been asking to go trick or treating again, and gets so excited when she see's her pumpkin in the closet.
In November Carl's parent's came for a visit. We haven't seen them in a few years, so we were happy they were able to come. Makenna was excited to go to the airport to meet them. At first she was a bit shy, but it didn't take long. It was a nice break for me to have other people in the house to help entertain her. She is still pretty clingy, and we realize she has probably never been left in a room by herself, so she needs someone with her all the time. We are slowly trying to get her used to playing by herself, and walking out of the room and showing her we are coming back.
Makenna loved all the attention Grandma and Grandpa gave her. She would dance with Grandpa, and read stories with Grandma. One day Grandpa came home with a 5 foot teddy bear for Makenna. She and Prancer have been fighting over it ever since!
We enjoyed Thanksgiving together, and it was nice to have Matt home for a few days. While he was here, we put up the Christmas tree and decorations. We tried to keep it low key again so as not to overwhelm Makenna, but she takes it all in and has enjoyed everything.
Carl's parents left a week later, and Makenna still asks for them. Hopefully we will get to see them again soon.
I have written a post in more detail about Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I have posted those pictures there. I am trying to remember all of the details. It is so important to us that Makenna have this keepsake of her journey into our family. We want her to know how special she is and how much we love her.
I have done two more updates, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then a current update. You will find lots more photo's there!
Thanks for following along on this amazing ride!
